Solubility cause a stain to lose adherence. This process breaks the stain free from the surface, allow it to be rinsed away. An additional benefit to this type of cleaning is that it is green. HOW TO SPOT CLEAN FURNITURE
Chances are if you have kids and pets you do a lot of spot cleaning. Spot cleaning is simply cleaning a small area where a spill had occurred. Genesis 950 can tackle the toughest stains when it comes to spot cleaning. Food stains, drink spills, makeup smudges and ink stains can easily be removed from upholstery with Genesis 950.
Genesis 950 is sold in concentrate form. For it to effectively clean, water needs to be added to the concentrate. The cleaning ratios for Genesis 950 vary based on what you are trying to clean.
Genesis 950 mixing ratios:
General Cleaning: 1 Part Genesis 950 to 7 Parts Water
Heavy Cleaning: 1/3 Genesis 950 to 2/3 Water
Extreme Cleaning: 50 / 50 Mix of Genesis 950 And Water
However to simplify things, we recommend filling a spray bottle with the mix of 1/3 Genesis 950 to 2/3 water. Keep this bottle for general cleaning and in the event bigger mess comes along, you are ready to go.
Genesis 950 will clean a wide variety of stains. Being an all purpose cleaner, it can tackle nearly any surface. It can be used on carpets, counter tops, finished wood, furniture and upholstery. This particular stain is from cat vomit. If you have cats, you know they have a rule . . . Never get sick where it would be easy to clean.
- This stain is on a microfiber couch. However when it comes to upholstery, Genesis 950 is not limited to microfiber. Because it is a green cleaner, it is safe to use on leather, suede, cotton and vinyl. It is also safe for vintage furniture and antiques!
- Spray the stained area with your mixture of Genesis 950 and water. Be sure to thoroughly saturate the stain. As the mixture comes in contact with the stain, Genesis 950 will work to break the stains down. Once it begins to break down, the stain will become water soluble and break free from the material. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes to really break the stain down. The worse a stain is, the longer you will want the solution to sit. As you begin to use Genesis 950, you will become more familiar with how long it takes for it to break down different stains, and at what ratio it takes to break down stains.
- After the solution has been given time to break down the stains, use a damp cloth, sponge or paper towel to wipe the stain free from the surface.
- In the event that the stain does not come up when rinsed clean, spray a little more of the solution onto the stubborn portion of the stain. Allow it to sit for a few moments and repeat the rinse process with your cloth. With stains that have solid matter in the stain, scrub the solution in with small circular motions before allowing it to sit. This will help agitate the stain to make it easier for it to become water soluble.
- Once the stain has been removed, rinse clean with a damp cloth to pull up anything left on the upholstery.
- Allow the area to dry.

In the Genesis 950 Review by The Small Things, Genesis 950 was used for a number of stains. First, Genesis 950 was used to clean carpet stains at a 50/50 ratio with water. After removing 3 year old unidentified stains from the carpet, the review headed to furniture. In the review, Genesis 950 was used to remove spots and stains from a couch. Thanks to the help of a little guy and some ice cream, Tabby’s Pantry’s Genesis 950 Review was put to the test. The ice cream was spilled on the ottoman and dried up. This was no challenge for Genesis 950. The solution was ready to go in the spray bottle. The hardest part of this mess was going to get the pre-mixed bottle of Genesis 950. All it took was spraying the surface, letting it sit for about a minute and then wiping it clean. Genesis 950 really is that simple. It’s also noted in the review that the smell was similar to that of an air freshener. So not only did Genesis 950 clean the stain, but it left the house smelling fresh!

HOW TO MACHINE CLEAN FURNITURE
Sometimes a spill or stain is too much for a simple spot cleaning. When an entire glass of wine, a bowl of spaghetti or an exploded pen seem to ruin your furniture, Genesis 950 can remove those tough stains. When stains like these happen, it is sometimes best to use Genesis 950 in a carpet cleaning machine. For pet owners, machine cleaning furniture can be a huge factor in keeping your home clean. Dirty paws, licking the furniture or even oil marks from pet fur can age your furniture quickly. Perhaps an even bigger problem for pet owners is odor. A wet dog getting comfortable on your favorite chair might leave an odor for months! Do you ever find yourself asking company if they can smell the animals? Put that embarrassment behind you and give your furniture a good deep cleaning with Genesis 950 in any carpet cleaning machine with an attachment hose. In this example, while the dual recliners being cleaned have minor stains that could be spot cleaned, the real issue came from pet odors in the furniture. Spot cleaning will not remove pet odor as it seeps into the fabric. The only way to remove pet odor from furniture is with a deep cleaning.
When preparing to deep clean furniture, the mixing ratios will again vary on your cleaning objective. If you are just giving the furniture a basic cleaning, use the general cleaning ratio of 1 part 950 to 7 parts water. For heavier stains, use the recommended “go to” ratio of 1/3 Genesis 950 to 2/3 water. In this example, a dual reclining chair was cleaned using Genesis 950 at this ratio in a Bissell Spot Bot. Any carpet cleaning machine with an attachment hose would work using these techniques.
To deep clean furniture, slowly go over the upholstery using the attachment hose. Release the mixture of Genesis 950 and water so that it thoroughly coats the upholstery. After you have cleaned the entire piece of furniture, give the solution time to set in. This will ensure that the solution removes the stains and odors within the upholstery.
After you have gone over the entire piece of furniture with the mixture of Genesis 950 and water, fill the carpet cleaning machine’s tank ONLY with clean water. Once the machine is filled with fresh water, go over the entire piece of furniture using the water to rinse the upholstery. Take your time and go slowly. Because the solution was given time to break down any dirt, dust or stains in the furniture, your return water will come back very murky. You will be amazed at how much the Genesis 950 solution pulls out of your furniture!
Once the furniture has been rinsed thoroughly, allow to dry. Your furniture will not only be clean, but it will smell fresh as well.
